History of the Euro

The Euro was officially put into circulation on January 1st, 2002 but was introduced three years earlier in an electric form to support a careful transition into the new currency. Some of the countries that do not use the Euro include Switzerland (Swiss Franc), Turkey (Turkish Lira) and Poland (Polish Zloty) (1).
